The Flush Mechanism: How Does A Toilet Work. In this question, the tank is acts like a bucket of water. Pour enough water into the bowl is fast, that is enough to activate the siphon. If you try to use ordinary or normal pipe siphon do not work because water is not come fast. The tank acts like a capacitor and it hold several gallons of water. Refill Mechanism: This refill mechanism is the valve turns the water on and off. The filter valve or refill valve is sends water in two directions. While flushing , some of the water goes down, towards refilling tank and it starts refilling. The rest of the water goes through the bowl tube, and overflow into the bowl. But the over flow tube is preventing an extra water as overflow wastage.
